Account Questions

How do I get an account on the website?
You will be given a URL by your SQ/CC or Chapter President to create an account. See them if you did not receive it. Fill out the form to create an account. Once you log in and pay your initiation fee, your membership will renew on that date every year once your payment has been processed.

I don't know my login info; what is it?
If you know the email that your account has as the active email, follow the Forgot Password link to reset it. If you do not know the email, contact your Squadron CC or Chapter President to have them set your email to the correct address and reset your password (or after resetting your email, you can then use Forgot Password).

What do I need to know when I first log into the website?
First, you will be required to pay dues on your initial log in. Otherwise, the biggest things are the fact that our National Website will be the medium to pay dues and purchase equipment, as well as maintain communication and submit forms. You can view an excellent intro PowerPoint, created by Region VI President Jose Dominguez, by downloading it here.

How do I change my photo?
My profile » Edit profile» there should be an "Upload" button under your photo.

Can I change my username?
Yes, go to Edit Profile and click Change Username/Password. You'll have to be sure to pick a unique username, but it is possible to change.

My previous Area CC or Region President did not update his/her email from the standardized Area / Region staff emails - what do I do?
You'll still log in only using YOUR ACCOUNT. This is the account that is already tied to your name, and if you do not have one, we will create one for you. I need you to contact the previous Area CC / RP and have them update their profile, taking off the standardized email. If you can't contact them or they tell you they don't know how, then email me, webmaster@silver-wings.org, with your previous Area CC's / RP's name and active email address, so that I can update their profile, which in turn will free up the standardized Area / Region email.

My name was mistyped in my account - can I change this?
You'll contact your Region President / Area CC, and they will go into your profile and under the section "Contact Info" » click Edit Profile » that will then allow you to edit Name; after doing so, scroll down the page and hit the Submit button, so it will confirm the change.



Dues

How do I find out if I owe dues?
After logging into the website, follow this link. If you see an invoice that has not been marked paid, you owe dues for the year.

My Chapter President or Squadron Commander has created me an account, and upon first login it asks me to pay dues?
Until members pay their Dues, they will not be able to access the member portal, as dues must be paid before accessing the members' side. These must be paid through the website - if you are having issues with this, please check for other FAQs that may address your problem or email your Chapter President / Squadron CC and they will help you or send it up to Higher HQ to get an anwser.


How do I pay Dues?
Immediately after log in, you should see either your Dues invoice or a "Reminders and News" section under the navigation bar in the member portal (white background). It says something like "Your membership is set to expire soon. Please click here to pay your dues" - follow the link and make your payment! (see image to the right)

If you've had an account and failed to pay, you will see a $10 late fee on your account that you are now required to pay. If you are a new Initiate/Associate for the Spring, you are to pay by 30 Apr. If you were an Initiate/Associate as of Fall 2014, you were to pay by 31 Dec to retain access to your account or had to pay a $10 late fee.

I have an account, but it was created as a renewal member instead of new member; how do I make up these dues?
Go to the Equipment Store and select AAS Initiate Dues Balance or SW Associate Dues Balance, which will add the remaining $10 to your cart to update your dues. These dues must be paid by 31 October. (This $10 pays for the new member certificate and other equipment items.)

I'm logging in and trying to pay my dues, but every time I go to the invoice page, it's blank. What do I do?
This is likely due to a mismatch in your Hierarchy, meaning you were likely loaded as an AAS Cadet as a SW member, or a SW Cadet as an AAS member. Check with your Chapter President / Squadron CC and have them check that you are loaded in the correct organization.



For Alumni

I'm an Alumni - how can I be removed from the messaging and dues system?
Email or talk to your current Squadron CC or Chapter President; if you don't have their contact information, email your previous one and they should be able to put you in contact with your current SQ/CC or CP, who has the permissions to change your status. If not, email your current Area / Region staff (located unden Meet the Staff » Area Staff or Region Staff), or myself at webmaster@silver-wings.org letting us know 1) your previous Chapter / Squadron and 2) your date of graduation.



Misc Questions

How do I go about placing equipment orders online?
Currently, there are two options to get to the store. From the Member Portal » Resources » Equipment Store. There is also a button on the front page under "Calls to Action", but you will have to log in to actually access the store (if you're not logged in, it will simply take you to the log in page first and then after successful login to the Store).
Ordering is like most online orders:
  1. Select the subsection you are looking for (AAS or SW Equipment or AAS or SW Dues)
  2. Add the items you want into your cart
  3. Check out and fill in your payment information

Can I get my Squadron / Chapter / Region / Area Twitter or Facebook feed on this website?
Twofold answer:
  1. For Chapters and Squadrons - you'll have to check with your Region President or Area Commander to see if you can get something on your Region / Area page
  2. For Areas and Regions - Area / Region pages are currently in progress for being launched

What is the AFROTC Suggestion Program (ASP) Status?
The ASP suggestions submitted from 2013-2014 are currently being processed by AFROTC HQ. You can see the updated changes on the AFROTC Suggestion Page, and a new manual is in the works.
