Capt Dan Whalen

Captain Dan Whalen is currently serving as the Maintenance Operations Officer for the 436th Maintenance Squadron, 436th Maintenance Group, 436th Airlift Wing, Dover AFB, DE. He is responsible for all maintenance actions of more than 700 maintainers at 3 operating locations and responsible for off-equipment support of 13 C-17s, 18 C-5Ms, and the Air Force’s only C-5 Major Isochronal Inspection Dock which maintains a fleet of 42 C-5s valued at $7.5 Billion. Also at Dover he served as the Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer in Charge of the 736th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

Captain Whalen was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He entered the Air Force as a distinguished graduate of West Virginia University’s Reserve Officer Training Corp in May 2009. Prior to his current assignment he was as a Space System Analyst in the Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, NM.
