AAS-SW Academic Scholarships 2026-2027
The AAS-SW Executive Management Center is awarding ten academic scholarships totaling over $45,000: two at $10,000, two at $5,000, and six at $2,500.
WHO CAN APPLY
AS100, AS200, AS300, and non-graduating AS400 AAS-SW cadets, plus civilian Silver Wings freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors. "Non-graduating" means you graduate on or after 31 December 2026. You need a 2.5 cumulative GPA (4.0 scale) or higher.
HOW TO APPLY
Choose your topic. Pick one of the six essay topics listed in Attachment 1 of the scholarship memo.
Write your essay and bibliography first. Do not start the online application until both are finished. The essay must be:
- 3 pages, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pt
- Formatted in MLA, APA, or Chicago style
- Labeled with your name (Last name, First name)
- Combined with your bibliography in one Word (.docx) file (the bibliography doesn't count toward the page limit)
- Cited for any AI use, in APA format (details in Attachment 1)
Get it reviewed. Ask a cadre member or your campus writing center to check your grammar and thesis before you submit.
Complete the online application. Go to this LINK. You will enter:
- Name, permanent (non-.edu) email, phone, school, major/minor, and cumulative GPA
- Squadron or chapter, and detachment code
- Leadership and service: positions held, service hours from the past 12 months, and your top 5 honors and awards
- Det/CC name, rank, and email (double-check this one)
- An academic reference (can be a cadre member)
- Financial need, consistent with your FAFSA
Attach your essay. Upload the .docx file. PDFs, Google Docs, and scans will not be accepted.
Notify your Det/CC. The system alerts them automatically, but let them know yourself. Your application is not complete until your Det/CC endorses it and submits it to the EMC.
DEADLINES
- Submit your application by 20 November 2026 to give your Det/CC at least three days to endorse it.
- The Det/CC's submission must reach the EMC by midnight ET, Monday, 23 November 2026. Timing is based on when your Det/CC submits, not when you do. Late submissions will not be accepted.
HOW YOU'RE SCORED (100 POINTS)
- Essay and bibliography: 80 points
- Leadership and service: 10 points
- Financial need: 10 points
IF YOU'RE SELECTED
Results come in late January. Recipients provide a photo, agree to send a thank-you email to the sponsor, and have the cost of NATCON registration deducted from their award.
